RECOMMENDED

COURSE OF ACTION

If for any reason you do not understand the test procedures or are unable to perform the tests/repairs safely,

contact the Lincoln Electric Service Department for technical troubleshooting assistance before you proceed.

Call 1-888-935-3877.

CAUTION

The engine goes to low idle, but

will not stay at low idle. The

machine has normal weld and

auxiliary output. The engine

starts and shuts down normally.

Make sure there are no

external loads on the weld

terminals or the auxiliary

power receptacles. Disconnect

the weld cables and unplug

anything that may be

connected to the auxiliary

receptacles.

The low idle RPM may be too

low. Perform the engine idle

adjustment procedure.
The idle solenoid linkage may

be out of adjustment. Check

that the linkage moves freely

and that the plunger is not

binding in any way. Check

that the solenoid can freely

pull in and solidly seat

against its internal stop.
The idle solenoid may have

failed. Disconnect the

solenoid leads and check the

resistance of the solenoid

coil. See machine schematic

for correct solenoid

resistance. Check the

solenoid for a grounded coil;

the resistance between

chassis ground and either

solenoid lead wire should be

500k Ohms (500,000 Ohms)

minimum.
There may be a poor or

intermittent connection in the

solenoid wiring, or a

component may be opening

while under load. Check the

idle switch and the wiring

between the switch, the

solenoid, and the PC Board.

Repair or replace any poor

connections, damaged wiring,

or faulty components. (See

wiring diagram)
The idle/engine protection PC

board may be faulty.
