BLEEDING THE FUEL SYSTEM: In the event the
engine is operated until it runs out of fuel, you will need
to bleed the fuel system in order to start the engine.
Refer to the engine operation manual.

AIR FILTER

Excessive air filter restriction will result in
reduced engine life.

The air filter element is a dry cartridge type. It can be
cleaned and reused. However, damaged elements
should not be reused. Stop engine after 100 hours of
running time and clean filter element. Replace the fil-
ter if necessary. Service the air cleaner regularly
according to your engine operation manual.

1. Locate the air filter canister located behind the

engine door on the top of the engine.

2. Remove the air filter element.

3. Remove loose dirt from the element with com-

pressed air or a water hose directed from inside
out.

Compressed Air: 100 psi maximum with nozzles at

least one inch away from the ele-
ment.

Water Hose: 40 psi maximum without nozzle.

4. Soak the element in a mild detergent solution for 15

minutes. Do not soak more than 24 hours. Swish
the element around in the solution to help remove
dirt.

5. Rinse elements from inside out with a gentle stream

of water (less than 40 psi) to remove all suds and
dirt.

6. Dry the element before reuse with warm air at less

than 160°F (71°C). Do not use a light bulb to dry
the element.

7. Inspect for holes and tears by looking through the

element toward a bright light. Check for damaged
gaskets or dented metal parts. Do not reuse dam-
aged elements. Protect the element from dust and
damage during drying and storage.

8. Reinstall the air filter element.

After six cleanings, replace the air filter. A cleaned
filter will have approximately 70% of the life of a
new filter element. A restricted filter element may
not appear excessively dirty.
