Switching on
After making sure that everything is con-
nected properly and that the player is
plugged in, press STANDBY/ON on the
front panel, or on the remote control to
switch the player on.

Also, switch on your TV and make sure that it
is set to the input you connected the system
to.
• My DVD player switches on but there is
nothing displayed on my TV.
Make sure that the TV is set to the
correct video input (not a TV channel).
For example, if you connected this
player to the
VIDEO 1 inputs on your TV,
switch your TV to VIDEO 1.
• This system features three screen savers
for the OEL display unit. If no button is
pressed for five minutes, the screen
saver starts. See Entertainment mode on
page 76 if you want to change it.
• There is also a screen saver function for
your TV screen. See Screen Saver on
page 64 for how to switch this feature
on.
Automatic power on buttons
As well as the STANDBY/ON button on
the remote, any of the function select
buttons (
CD DVD, TUNER, TV, VIDEO), the
0 TRAY OPEN/CLOSE and the 0 DOOR
OPEN/CLOSE buttons will switch the system
on and into that function. In the case of the
CD DVD button, if there is a disc loaded, it
will start playing automatically.
Setting the unit to match
your TV system
When you switch on the system for the first
time, you should see a welcome screen
displayed on your TV. From here you can set
up the player to work with the kind of TV you
have, then go ahead and start playing some
discs.
