Dolby Pro Logic Surround
(for MHC-C9EX only)

Dolby Pro Logic Surround is a system
developed by Dolby Laboratories Licensing
Corporation to allow you to enjoy the
powerful sound of movies.
You can use Dolby Surround movie and
music sources for this system.
Dolby Pro Logic Surround improves the
sound imaging capability of a conventional
Dolby Surround home theater audio
system.
Dolby Pro Logic Surround uses
professional decoder technology to recreate
the sound field from a two-channel Dolby
Surround signal.

The Dolby Pro Logic Modes
Select one of the four modes, depending on
the arrangement of the speaker system.

PHANTOM Mode

Select this mode when you are not using a
center speaker. The sound for the center
channel is output from the left and right
front speakers.

NORMAL Mode

Select this mode when using a small center
speaker (such as a speaker on a television
set). Because a small speaker carmot
adequately reproduce low-frequency
sounds, the bass for the center channel is
output from the front speakers.

WIDE Mode

Select this mode when using a medium- or
large-sized speaker similar to the left and
right speakers for the center speaker.

3CH.LOGIC Mode

Select this mode when using only the front
and center speakers. The sound for the rear
channels is output from the left and right
front speakers.

The Recording Functions

About Dolby NR*
When you listen to soft music, you can
reduce the high-frequency tape hiss noise
by using Dolby noise reduction system B or
C.
Type C has greater noise reduction
capability.
However, record your tapes in Dolby B if
you intend to play back your tapes on a
unit equipped with only type B (e.g., a
headphone stereo).

* Dolby noise reduction manufactured

under license from Dolby Laboratories
Licensing Corporation.

About Fade Synchro
This feature slowly fades out a recording so
that a track is not abruptly cut off at the end
of the tape.

If the tape reaches the end of its front side
while recording the middle of a track, the
unit re-records it automatically after
rewinding the tape to the beginning of the
track .This time, the track is recorded with a
fadeout at the end of the tape. (Recording
ends at this point if it is a single-sided
recording.)
