disc that is rated above your specified Level,
the following display appears on the TV screen
asking if you want to temporarily override the
Parental Lock and play the disc:

• To eject the disc, use the CURSOR

buttons to move the over the NO field,
then press the ENTER button. Eject the disc.

• To play the disc, use the CURSOR

buttons to move the over the YES field,
then press the ENTER button. The moves
to the PASSWORD field.

• Enter your 4-digit password using the NU-

MERIC (0–9) buttons on the remote. If you
enter the wrong password “Wrong! Re-
try....” appears on the screen. If you en-
ter it wrong more than three times, the
jumps to the NO field. If you enter the correct
password, the Parental Lock is temporarily
removed and playback begins.

Troubleshooting

If you are experiencing difficulties, consult the
following list for possible solutions:

No Power: make sure the unit is plugged
in properly.

Remote does not work: check the bat-
tery installation, install new batteries, aim
remote at unit.

TV/VIDEO-CANCEL, CURSOR, or NU-
MERIC buttons do not work:
TV-DVD
switch must be set to TV to operate the TV
functions and DVD to operate the RDV-1080.

No picture: check the video cable connec-
tion and input setting on TV, turn off Progres-
sive scan feature.

Picture is noisy: do not connect unit directly
to VCR (copyguard feature may disrupt video
signal), turn off Progressive scan feature or set
its mode to VIDEO.

Picture is garbled: Change Screen Saver
mode to something other than Mode 1.

Picture does not fill screen: Set TV Monitor
type correctly.

No sound: check the audio cable connec-
tion and input settings preamplifier.

Garbled sound: Clean the disc surface.

Unit does not operate properly: To re-
set the microprocessor, turn off the power,
unplug the power cord, and reconnect the
power cord. Following a sudden temperature
change (such as bringing unit or discs inside
from extreme cold), allow several hours for
possible condensation to clear.
