LUBRICATION

GREASING HYDROSTATIC CONTROL LEVER

Grease the zerk fitting located on the shaft just inside the control
console at the operator's right. See Figure 13. This is accessible
by raising the rear deck. Wipe the zerk clean before and after
lubrication. Use Ariens Multi-Purpose Grease (Part No. 150)
every 50 hours of operation or at least once each season.

OILING HYDROSTATIC CONTROL LINKAGE

1.

Oil Control Cable “B”, Figure 13.

2.

Periodically oil hydrostatic control pivot shaft at Point C,
Figure 13.

3.

Periodically lubricate all lift linkage pivot areas.

ADJUSTMENTS/ MAINTENANCE

ENGINE SPEEDS

Idle speeds on engine are set as follows:

Twin Cylinder Models
Single Cyliner Models

1200RPM

1800 RPM

Governor settings are 3250 RPM, no load (± 75 RPM).

SEAT MAINTENANCE

Clean the seat regularly, using a vinyl cleaner (not a solvent).

. Extreme temperatures can damage the seat when left without

protection against weather. If the seat should tear, apply vinyl

repair tape to the damaged area.

HOUR METER

The hour meter is standard equipment on Models GT17 and
GT19 and is available as an optional accessory for all other

models.

The hour meter is located under the engine hood, on the right
side, just ahead of the dash panel. The hour meter will record the
actual time the engines operates. Keep a record of hour meter

readings in order to perform Maintenance and Lubrication ser
vices at the recommended hourly intervals.

The hour meter will operate as long as the ignition switch is in
the “RUN” position. Be sure the ignition switch is always turn
ed to “OFF” when tractor is not in use.

The hour meter has three indicating hands and is read as
follows:

RED HAND:

since it is unwinding mechanically. The white

hand rotates once each minute.

Indicates hours of operation up to 60 hours,
reading on outside circle.

YELLOW HAND: Indicates total hours of operation on inside

circle of numbers in increments of 60 hours.

AIR FILTER SERVICE

Check the air filter daily or every 25 hours of operation. Consult
the following recommendations:

EVERY 25 HOURS: Remove the cover on the air cleaner and
remove the sponge sleeve (Pre-Cleaner). Wash in water and
detergent solution. Rinse and dry thoroughly. Saturate with oil,

squeeze out excess, replace sleeve and cover. Excess oil will
clog paper filter. See Figure 14.

EVERY 100 HOURS: Perform above procedures on sleeve.
Remove the paper filter, tap lightly to remove dirt. Examine car
tridge carefully and replace if it is bent, crushed or if it is so dirty
there is a noticable loss of power.

Re-assemble cartridge and cover making sure it seats around the
back plate. Install wing nut and tighten finger tight.

NOTE: THE AIR CLEANER ON THE TWIN CYLINDER ENGINE IS
LOCATED ON TOP OF THE ENGINE. IT HAS A DIFFERENT CON
FIGURATION BUT MAINTENANCE AND REPLACEMENT PRO
CEDURES ARE IDENTICAL TO THOSE DESCRIBED ABOVE. BE
EXTREMELY CAUTIOUS NOT TO ALLOW DIRT TO FALL INTO

THROAT OF CARBURETOR.

WHITE HAND:

This hand should rotate any time the tractor is

running and indicates that the hour meter is

functioning. This hand will continue to operate

IMPORTANT:

for 2 to 4 minutes after the tractor is turned off

MOVED.
