One of the following error messages is displayed when a problem has occurred in the unit. The VTR is set to the
auto OFF mode (stop) or the power is forcibly turned off. Contact your dealer if the error display persists even
when the power is turned off and turned back on again.

Display tube

Description

d

Condensation (dew) has formed. Leave the power on and wait
until the error message is cleared. When OFF has been
selected as the setup menu item No.170 (HUMID OPE) setting,
“d” lights on the display tube and “DEW” appears on the
superimposed display.

When HUMID OPE has been set to ON, “d” and the counter
value are displayed alternately on the display tube, and the VTR
mode is superimposed on the display.

Only the EJECT button can
be operated. When a
cassette tape has been
inserted, it will not be loaded.

This appears when the servo is disengaged for more than 3
seconds during playback, recording or editing.

LOW RF

Operation continues.

This appears when the state in which envelope level is output is
only one-third of the normal and continues for more than 1
second during playback.

HIGH ERROR
RATE

Operation continues.

This appears when the error rate has deteriorated, and the
video playback signals or audio playback signals have been
subject to correction or interpolation.

FAN STOP

Operation continues/

power OFF.

The fan motor has stopped. When about 20 minutes have
elapsed with the fan motor stopped, the power is forcibly turned
off.

REEL STAND
MOTOR

Eject/auto OFF

This appears when the reel base which operates in accordance
with the tape size has locked for more than 2.5 seconds after
the cassette tape was inserted.

FRONT LOAD
MOTOR

Cassette down/eject

This appears when the cassette tape fails to move down within
4 seconds after it was inserted or if it fails to be ejected within 4
seconds after EJECT.

LOADING MOTOR

Eject

This appears when the loading operation is not completed
within 4 seconds.

E — 32

UNLOADING
MOTOR

Auto OFF

This appears when the unloading operation is not completed
within 4 seconds.

SERVO CONTROL
ERR

Auto OFF

This appears when there has been no response from the servo
microcomputer for more than 1 second.

E — 36

SERVO ERROR

Auto OFF

This appears when only the servo microcomputer has been
reset by an instantaneous power failure, etc.

E — 37

SERVO COMM
ERROR

Auto OFF

This appears when the servo microcomputer fails to follow the
system control microcomputer’s instructions within 10 seconds.

E — 51

FRONT LOAD
ERROR

Auto OFF

This appears when the take-up reel has been rotated without
engaging for a specific period of time by the start or end
operation at some point during loading (half position).

E — 52

W-UP REEL NOT
ROTA

Auto OFF

This appears when the total tape amount is not detected after
the cassette tape has been inserted, and the take-up reel has
failed to take up the tape while the tape is traveling.

E — 53

WINDUP ERROR

Auto OFF

This appears after the total tape amount has been detected
when the amount taken up by the take-up reel and the amount
fed out by the supply reel are abnormal.

E — 55

UNLOAD ERROR

Auto OFF

This appears when the tape is not taken up during unloading.

E — 57

S-FF/REW
TIMEOVER

Auto OFF

This appears when the tape’s start or end processing operation
fails to be completed.
