Multi-Channel Surround Setup

For tiu' host possible surround sound all speakers should
be the same distance from the listening position (O).
Ideal placement of the rear speakers is at the side of fhe

listening position in the region within the shaded area
shown in the illustration below. Even when speakers

cannot all be placed at equal distanc:^ from the listening
position, it is possible to place speakers (including the sub
woofer) at a distances of 1 ~ 12 m (3 ~ 40 feet) from the

listening position. If this is the case, by accurate!)’ setting
the distance of each speaker, the amplifier can

automatically adjust the audio output to produce an ideal
surround'sound effect.

Depending on the shape of \ our room (etc.), \’ou mav
wish to place the rear speakers behind vou instead of on

the side walls (the shaded area). One advantage of this
placement is tl'wt \-ou can use a pair of large floor
standing speakers that match \ our front speakers.

Notes

• The difference in distance of the nearest and farthest speakers

from the listening position should not exceed 8.4 m (27 feet).

• When mounting rear speakers at the sides of the listening

position, ideal speaker height is about 60 - 90 cm (2-3 feet)
above ear height.

speaker location setting in the SP SETUP menu when using any
of the "VIRTUAL" sound fields (see pages 20, 23 and 24 for
