Before Installation
Before any installation work is performed, study all
drawings furnished by the supplier for the particular
installation. These include arrangement drawings (front,
end, and plan views), connections diagrams, and schedule
of equipment. Any material external to the equipment
that may be required to meet any local codes (such as
mats, screens, or railings) is not furnished.
Location
When locating the switchboard, check all applicable codes
for aisle, working space, and placement requirements.
The space at the front must be sufficient to allow the
doors to be opened and removable breakers to be
removed.
Clearance
We recommend a clearance of one inch between the back
of the switchboard and the wall or obstruction. However,
this clearance is not required unless a 30 kVA or larger
transformer is integral to the switchboard.
Rear Access
Some switchboards may require access to field wiring
terminals from the rear. Do not install these switchboards
against a back wall.
Foundation Requirements
Indoor Equipment
The floor or foundation must be strong enough to prevent
sagging from the weight of the switchboard structure. If
the foundation is subject to vibrations, the equipment
must be specially mounted to prevent transmitting
vibrations to the equipment.
The switchboard must be bolted directly to the floor, as
shown in Figure 3. The floor must be level without any
high spots that might cause misalignment. If the floor is
not level, use floor channels.
NOTE: For seismically certified equipment,
refer to the installation instructions on page 5.
If steel floor channels are used, embed them in a level
concrete slab, with the top surface of the channels flush
with the finished floor. To avoid distortion of the
structure, the steel channels must be level and aligned
with each other before the equipment is anchored. The
recommended foundation construction and method of
mounting the switchboard to the foundation are shown in
Figure 4. Channels should be grouted after installation.
Avant l’installation
Avant de procéder à tout travail d’installation, étudier
tous les dessins fournis par le fournisseur pour
l’installation spécifique. Cela inclut les dessins de la
disposition (face, extrémité et les vues des plans), les
diagrammes de connexions et la liste de l’équipement.
Tout matériau externe à l’équipement pour lequel il peut
être requis de rencontrer des codes locaux (comme des

Localisation
Lors de la localisation du tableau de contrôle, vérifier tous
les codes applicables pour les requis reliés aux couloirs,
espace de travail et les mises en place nécessaires. L’espace
à l’avant doit être suffisant pour permettre aux portes
d’être ouvertes et qu’on puisse enlever les disjoncteurs
amovibles.
Dégagement
On recommande un dégagement de un pouce entre
l'arrière du tableau de contrôle et le mur ou ce qui
obstrue. Toutefois, ce dégagement n'est pas requis à moins
qu'un transformateur de 30 kVa ou plus gros ne soit
intégrant au tableau de contrôle.
Accès arrière
Certains panneaux de distribution peuvent demander un
accès pour la connexion de bornes sur le terrain par
l’arrière. Ne pas installer ces panneaux de distribution
contre un mur.
Exigences de fondation
Équipement à l’intérieur
Le plancher ou la fondation doivent être suffisamment
solides pour prévenir l’affaissement causé par le poids de
la structure du tableau de contrôle. Si la fondation est
sujette aux vibrations, l’équipement doit être spécialement
monté pour prévenir la transmission de vibrations à
l’équipement.
Le tableau de contrôle doit être boulonné directement au
plancher, comme montré à la Figure 3. Le plancher doit
être à niveau sans endroit surélevé qui puisse causer un
mésalignement. Si le plancher n’est pas à niveau utiliser
des profilés pour planchers.
