This chapter provides additional
information that will help you
imderstand and maintain your MD
deck system.
Precautions
On safety
• Sliould any solid object or liquid tall into the cabinet,
unplug the deck and ha\'e it checked by qualified
personnel before operating it anv further.
• The use of opfical instruments with this product will
increase eye hazard.
On power sources
• Before operafing fhe deck, check fhaf fhe operating
voltage of fhe deck is idenfical wifh vour local power
supply. The operating c'oltage is indicated on the
nameplate at the rear of the deck.
• The unit is not disconnected from fhe AC power source
(mains) as long as if is connecfed fo the wall outlet, e\'en
if the unit itself has been turned off.
• If you are nof going to use the deck for a long fime, be
sure to disconnect the deck from fhe wall outlet. To
disconnect the AC power cord, grasp the plug itself;
never pull fhe cord.
• AC power cord musf be changed only at the qualified
service shop.
On condensation in the deck
If the deck is brought directly from a cold fo a warm
location, or is placed in a very dampa room, moisture may
condense on the lenses inside the deck. Should this occur,
the deck may not operate properly. In this case, remove
the MD and leave the deck turned on for several hours
until the moisture evaporates.
On the MiniDisc cartridge
• Do not open the shutter to expose the MD.
• Do not place the cartridge where it will be subject to
extremes of sunlighf, femperafure, moisfure or dusf.
On cleaning
Clean the cabinet, panel and controls with a soft cloth
slightly moistened with a mild detergent solution. Do not
use any type of abrasive paad, scouring powder or solvenf
such as alcohol or benzine.
