Power Outage
Here is a description of what your AVU1500 will do during a power outage,
and also a description of what you can do.

Your AVU1500 will do the following:

• Automatically enter into battery-backup mode.
• The front-panel display will change background color from

blue to orange.

• If the audible-alert feature is on, you will hear the alert sound.
• The front-panel “Test” button will be disabled while the unit is in

battery-backup mode.

• If a home or Media Center PC is connected to your AVU1500, it will

not only get battery backup but the PureView software you installed
on your PC will begin to properly shut down your PC.
• While your other computer peripheral devices not connected

to the AVU1500 will not get battery backup, this should not be
a problem. Your AVU1500 will provide battery backup to your
connected PC so that the PureView software you installed on
your PC can have the time it needs to properly shut down your
PC. Open files will automatically be saved and closed so data
loss is minimized. There is no need for you to interact with your
PC keyboard, mouse, or other peripheral devices, nor is there a
need necessarily to see what is happening (e.g., in the event your
computer display is off or loses power).

• If override is ON...

• Calculate the estimated total battery-backup time for all

rear-panel power outlets (i.e., override time).

• Display all stage icons and the estimated override time.
• The override backup time will count down.
• Disable the “Stage Time” button.

• If override is OFF, then your AVU1500 will begin its SmartStage

shutdown process...
• Enter Stage 1 and show the approximate battery-backup time for

Stage 1. The backup time will count down.

• The Stage 1 icon will blink to indicate it is the current stage.
• If your IR Blaster is set to Stage 1, then an IR signal will be

blasted right away. The target device meant to receive this signal
should respond. If not, there are a few possible reasons (see the
“Troubleshooting” section).
