Setup and Installation

Step 7 – Test Your Setup
By this step, your AVU1500 has been programmed and fully connected
to your home theater system. Did you do it all correctly? Will it work the
way you were hoping and planning?
Power Test
First, make sure that all your connected home theater equipment powers
on and off as desired:

1. Turn your AVU1500’s main power on if it is not already on. The unit’s

front-panel display should be lit and showing status information.

2. Keep the switched outlets off for now so you can test any “Always

On” outlets first. Also, if you are using another device as a remote
trigger (i.e., using a preamp to turn your switched power outlets on
and off), please leave it off for the “Always On” test.

3. Test the “Always On” outlets:

a. Using your “power planning” table from “Step 3 – Plan,” turn on

all the home theater equipment plugged into any “Always On”
outlets (except for your remote trigger device – e.g.,
your preamp).

b. They should turn on, and even when you turn them off (or put

them in standby) they should continue to receive power (to
maintain memory, settings, etc.).

c. Turn off (or put into standby) all your home theater equipment

plugged into any “Always On” outlets.

4. If you are using the remote trigger feature, go to Step 5; otherwise,

go to Step 6.

5. Test your remote trigger setup:

a. If you are using another device as a remote trigger, the

AVU1500’s front-panel display should show “Remote ON”.

b. Turn your remote trigger device on (e.g., press the “on” button

for your preamp).

c. All switched outlets should also power on: “Switched” and “No

Delay” should power on immediately, while “Switched” and
“Delay” should power on after the delay interval you specified
(i.e., 5, 10, or 15 seconds).

d. All the home theater equipment connected to switched outlets

should receive power and you should be able to turn them on (if
they are not already on).

e. With all switched outlets powered on, and all associated devices

turned on, turn off your remote trigger (e.g., your preamp).

f. This should cause all switched outlets to lose power: “Switched”

and “Delay” should lose power immediately, while “Switched” and
“No Delay” should lose power after the delay interval
you specified.

g. If your remote trigger setup is not behaving as expected, see

“Troubleshooting – Remote Trigger” on page 47.
