Setup and Installation

6. Test your switched outlets:

a. If you are not using the remote trigger feature, then your

AVU1500’s front-panel display should show “Remote Off”. So, you
will need to use the front-panel “Switched” button to turn the
power on for all the switched outlets.

b. Press the “Switched” button to power on all the switched outlets.
c. All the switched outlets should power on: “Switched” and “No

Delay” should power on immediately, while “Switched” and
“Delay” should power on after the delay interval you specified
(i.e., 5, 10, or 15 seconds).

d. All the home theater equipment connected to switched outlets

should receive power and you should be able to turn them on (if
they are not already on).

e. With all the switched outlets powered on, and all associated

devices turned on, press the “Switched” button again to cut
power to all the switched outlets.

f. This should cause all the switched outlets to lose power:

“Switched” and “Delay” should lose power immediately, while
“Switched” and “No Delay” should lose power after the delay
interval you specified.

If the system behaves as expected, then congratulations. If this test reveals
activities inconsistent with your expectations, then you may have to make
adjustments (e.g., connect equipment to different outlets or set new power
profiles for various filter banks). In all cases, keep using your “power
planning” table and keep it synchronized with your actual system setup.

Shutdown Test
Your AVU1500 can simulate a power outage and battery-backup condition.
It will take your system through an accelerated shutdown of Stage 1 and
Stage 2 outlets. It will not shut down Stage 3 outlets since your most
critical devices are connected to it. If you are using the IR Blaster feature,
then it too will be tested. This quick shutdown test will take less than
a minute.
So, if you’re ready to try, then you should...

7. Make sure your AVU1500 is on, the switched outlets are on, and all

relevant home theater equipment is on.

8. Press and hold your AVU1500’s front-panel “Test” button for

three seconds.

a. If you start this test and wish to stop it before it finishes, then

during the test, simply press the “Test” button once and the test
will be canceled. The unit will return to a normal operating mode.
