Serial Copy Management System (SCMS)
The Serial Copy Management System (SCMS) which is incorporated in the domestic
DAT equipment prevents repeated digital dubbing from one equipment to another.
However, this system lets you record at least one generation of digital prerecorded
software via digital connections.
Notes
• There may be cases
where the Serial Copy

rules are not
applicable when the
equipment which is
not protected with the
Serial Copy
Management System
is used in recording.
• Even if digital
dubbing is impossible,
you c a n still dub tape
via analog
connections.
• When digital dubbing
is not possible, the

appear in the display.
