Initial Settings
 Video output settings (Video Output)
1. • When EDID is set to Off or when the display is not connected by HDMI cable, an “*” is displayed for the current setting (ex.: 1280 x 720p*).
• When EDID is set to On or when the display is connected by HDMI cable, an “*” is displayed for recommended resolution
(ex.: 1280 x 720p*).
2. • The EDID function automatically changes the Scaler Setting settings. The Scaler Setting settings can be changed manually, but they are
automatically set with the EDID function when the power is turned back on.
• Video signals with the same resolution are output from the
COMPONENT VIDEO OUT and HDMI OUT terminals.
• The EDID function may not work properly unless the display’s power is turned on before turning on this unit’s power.
3. Only settable in the stop mode. For some files, the picture will not become sharper even when Still Picture is set to Field.
4. 1920 x 1080p synchronizing signals are not supported.

EDID

Video signals with the resolution set at Scaler Setting are output from the HDMI OUT
terminal.

Video signals with a resolution appropriate for the connected display are selected
automatically and output from the HDMI OUT terminal. 2
TV Screen
4:3 The aspect ratio is set to the conventional size (4:3).
16:9 The aspect ratio is set to wide size (16:9).
Still Picture

Field Shaking when playing still pictures is eliminated, and the picture quality is clearer.
Frame This is the normal mode.
Sync Out
(During SQ)
Off
Video signals are always output, even when not in the play mode and when no menu screen
is displayed and there is no video signal (synchronizing signals are always output). The blue
or black background color is displayed in the pause and stop modes.
On
No video signal is output when not in the play mode and when no menu screen is displayed
(no synchronizing signals are output).
External Sync 3
Off
The output signal is not synchronized with the external synchronizing signal input from the
EXT SYNC IN terminal.
On
The output signal is synchronized with the external synchronizing signal input from the EXT
SYNC IN terminal. For the external synchronizing signal, input NTSC/PAL Black-Burst
signals or HD tri-level synchronizing signals (page 48). 4

Black Sets the background color in the pause and stop modes to black.
Blue Sets the background color in the pause and stop modes to blue.
