11.2 CONTROL ACCESS

Once the appliance has been framed and fi nished, control access can only be achieved by removing the access
panel inside the fi rebox at the right end. The following sub sections take you through the steps of accessing the
control as if the appliance is installed.
*Prior to removing the control panel follow the “DOOR REMOVAL” proccess and then follow the media removal
instructions located under the “MAINTENANCE” section.

NOTE: IT WILL BE NECESSARY TO REPLACE THE GASKET (W290-0197) FOR THE ACCESS PLATE IF
THE UNIT HAS BEEN PREVIOUSLY OPERATED BEFORE REMOVING THE PLATE (W290-0197).

A.

Remove the media tray by removing all screws securing the front, rear and side panels.

B.

Remove the rear right side and then the right side porcelain panels, follow removal instructions under

the “ PORCELAIN PANEL REMOVAL” section.

C.

To access the control access remove the 12 screws securing the access plate.

D.

Care should be taken to ensure avoiding damage to the gasket.

E.

Reverse this process to install the control access. Ensure the access plate is well sealed to the fi replace

11.3 MEDIA REMOVAL/REPLACEMENT

A. Glass
Insert a clean bag into your vacuum cleaner and vacuum out the glass media.
B. Rock
Carefully remove all of the rocks from the appliance.
C. Driftwood
Carefully remove all of the driftwood logs from the appliance.
D. Sand/Vermiculite
Option 1: Separate and remove the vermiculite from the sand, as best you can, remove it from the appliance.

Insert a clean bag into your vacuum cleaner and vacuum out the sand media.

Option 2: Insert a clean bag into your vacuum cleaner and vacuum out the sand and vermiculite from the

appliance, throw this media away and replace it with a new bag of sand and vermiculite.
