InstallatIon & operatIon

As soon as Battery (+) is connected, the Status LED (2, Fig .1) will be steady Orange
and message “Welcome to Samlex Solar 1.0” will be displayed for around 3 to 5 sec.
After this, the LED will blink Green & Screen 1 (Fig 5.3) will be displayed: Amp 0.0;
Watt 0.0; BatV=”the battery voltage”.

6. Connect the Solar Panel / Array next. It is recommended that the Positive of

the PV Panel/Array be routed through easily accessible DC Circuit Breaker or DC
Disconnect Switch (Rated at ≥ 50 VDC and current capacity = 1.56 times the Short
Circuit Current “I

sc

” of the Solar Panel/Array). The Status LED indicator (2, Fig. 5.1)

will blink Green if the Solar Panel / Array is connected during the daytime and
the Solar Panel /Array is wired correctly (see Table 5.1, page 34 for details of LED
display).

Remember that the Solar Panel /Array will generate power whenever in sunlight.
Also, be careful not to short circuit the Solar Panel /Array while connected to the
controller, since this will damage the controller.

7. For most effective surge protection, it is recommended that the Negative system

conductor be properly grounded.

DIP Switch Settings

Battery Charging Notes

SCC-30AB manages many different charging conditions and system configurations.
Some useful functions to know are given below.
Solar Overload: Enhanced radiation or “Edge of Cloud Effect” conditions can generate
more current than the controller’s rating. The unit will reduce this overload up to
130% of rated current by regulating the current to safe levels. If the current from the
solar array exceeds 150%, the controller will interrupt charging.
