Setting the COMMAND MODE selector

Set COMMAND MODE on the remote commander to
the same position as that on the VCR (both switches are
set to “VTR4” at the factory.) Change the settings,
however, in the following cases:
• If you use two or more Sony VCRs: Change the setting

of each VCR in order to prevent accidental operation
caused by overlapping of commander signals.

• To control another Sony VCR with the remote

commander supplied with this VCR: Set COMMAND
MODE on the other VCR to the same position as that
on the remote commander supplied with this VCR.

• To control this VCR with the remote commander

supplied with the other Sony VCR: Set COMMAND
MODE on the remote commander supplied with the
other VCR to the same position as that on this VCR.

Tips

•If you set the COMMAND MODE on the operation panel to

“OFF,” you can no longer control this VCR from any other Sony
remote commander.

• If the other Sony VCR does not have a COMMAND MODE

switch, use the following settings:
VTR 1:

For Sony Betamax format VCRs

VTR 2:

For Sony 8 mm format VCRs

VTR 3:

For Sony VHS format VCRs

Note

Setting of the COMMAND MODE selector works on the
CONTROL S jack as well as the buttons on the remote
commander.
