Using On-Screen Menu Icons DVD-AlDVD-Vl VCD I CD
On-Screen Menu Icons are long thin menus that contain information about the disc or unit. These
menus allow you to perform operations by changing this information.
■ Operations available only with On-Screen Menu Icons
Elapsed play time, Time display mode, Still picture page number, A-B repeat play, Dialogue Enhancer,
Marker, V.S.S. mode (For details, ^ pages 22 and 23)
Basic operation
^ While stopped or playing
I Press [DISPLAY] to select the
On-Screen Menu Icons.
The screen changes each time you press
the button.

You can change groups, chapters, titles and
tracks, or select different angles or sound­
track and subtitle languages.

Use the cursor jockey [ A , ▼ , ◄ ,
to select the item.
The item is highlighted in yellow.

Use the cursor jockey [ A , T ] to
change the setting.
•Step 3 is not necessary when using the
shuttle screen.
•You can change some items with the re­
mote control’s numeric buttons.
• If the change doesn’t take effect, press
[ENTER] or [►].
■ To clear the on-screen display
Press [RETURN] or [CANCEL] on the remote control.
• If part of the On-Screen Menu Icons is cut off or
fails to appear, go to the initial settings menu to
change the position of On-Screen Messages.
The color of the On-Screen Menu Icons can
also be changed (^ page 30, “4 On-Screen
Messages”).
• Items displayed depend on how the disc is
being played and the type of disc.
• Functions that can be operated depend on how
the disc is being played and the type of disc.
•“A, V” around the on-screen icon means that
the item can be changed using the cursor jock­
ey
[A, T],

‘The numbers indicate the maximum speed and
do not change when the search speed is
changed.
•There are 5 speeds of fast forward, rewind, and
slow motion. The speed increases if you hold
the cursor jockey [<, ►] in position or repeat
the operation.
• You can advance frame by frame if you press
[A] while the picture is paused.
(DVD and Video CD)
•Slow motion play and frame advance only work
with DVD-Audio if a motion picture is playing.
