Operating Instructions

Before Starting the Appliance

• Remove the weather cover.
• Inspect the burner before each use of the appliance. Ensure that no debris such as leaves or other objects

have entered or are on the appliance. If the burner is damaged, it must be replaced with a Rinnai authorized
replacement burner prior to operating the appliance.

• Completely open the door (if present).
• Inspect the gas supply hose before each use of the appliance. If there is evidence of abrasion or wear, or if

the hose is damaged, it must be replaced with a Rinnai authorized replacement hose prior to operating the
appliance.

Operating the Appliance

1. Turn on the gas supply.

2. Press the control knob and slowly turn counterclockwise until you

hear a click. This step is “lighting to pilot”. Look for the pilot flame.

3. Hold down for an additional 5 seconds to activate the flame and

then release.

NOTE: Steps 1 and 2 may need to be repeated several times to
ignite the fire. This will vary according to the gas being used.

4. Once the heater is on, turn the knob to the high setting for a period

of time in order to establish a flame pattern. You can modulate the
flame by adjusting between the high and low settings.

5. To turn off, press the control knob and turn clockwise to the OFF

position. When shutting down the appliance it is important to cover
the appliance with the weather cover after it has cooled down.

6. Turn off the gas supply when the appliance is not in use.

start, push and turn
slowly to this position
until you hear a click.

High Setting

Low Setting

Check for pilot flame after turning the
knob to the pilot position

WARNING

Improper lighting may lead to a gas build up
which if ignited could cause serious injury.
