For sometime now the Tech department has complained about the number of end users calling into Wolf
Steel and looked for ways to minimize this workload. One of the issues we discussed was the fact that
we invite them to call the factory in each and everyone of our installation instructions. On the top of each
replacement parts page we make the following statement;
“Contact your dealer or the factory for questions concerning prices and policies on replacement parts.”
I would like to have that statement revised to say;
“Contact your dealer for questions concerning prices and availability of replacement parts.”
With your approval, please forward to Joanna to make the necessary changes as each manual is next
revised.

27) Note from Cliff asking me to add the following statement to all gas insert manuals under installation:
Clean out ashes from the inside of the wood-burning fi replace. Make sure that the chimney and wood-burning fi replace are
in a clean and sound condition and constructed of non-combustible materials. If necessary have any repair work done by a
qualifi ed person before installing the insert. Remove the existing fi replace damper or lock into an open position.
Using screws, attach the fi replace warning tag (W385-0199) to the inside of the fi rebox of the fi replace into which the insert
is being installed.
WARNING: THIS FIREPLACE HAS BEEN CONVERTED FOR USE WITH A GAS FIREPLACE INSERT ONLY AND CANNOT BE USED FOR BURNING WOOD OR SOLID FUELS UNLESS ALL ORIGINAL PARTS HAVE
BEEN REPLACED AND THE FIREPLACE IS RE-APPROVED BY THE AUTHORITY HAVING JURISDICTION.

The sheet-metal parts of the fireplace, in which the gas fireplace insert is to be installed, must not be cut.
If the wood-burning factory-built fireplace has no gas access hole(s) provided, an access hole of 1½ inch or less
may be drilled through the lower sides or bottom of the fireplace in a proper workman like manner. This access
hole must be plugged with non-combustible insulation after the gas supply line has been installed.
Ensure that existing chimney cleanouts fit properly.
The refractory, glass doors, screen rails, screen mesh and log grates may be removed from the fireplace before
installing the gas fireplace insert.
Smoke shelves, shields and baffles may be removed if attached by mechanical fasteners.
The ventilation openings in the fireplace may be obstructed by the backer plates, aluminium trim etc. but these
parts are not to be applied so as to have an airtight seal.
28) Add ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY Logo to cover of all manuals.
29) Under Replacement parts where applicable, Replace:
W573-0008 3OZ TUBE HIGH TEMP SEALANT
with
W573-0007 10.3OZ TUBE HIGH TEMP SEALANT
30) Please remove R2000 logo from “B” Vent units only. Combo manuals such as GDS50 / GS50 leave logo.
31) Add Approved Venting Manufacturers information To All DV manuals. See W415-0476.
