MAINTENANCE

Clutch

Check Clutch Lever and Cable

1. Squeeze the clutch lever toward the handlebar and release it. It

should move freely and smoothly and should return to its rest

position quickly when released.

2. Clutch lever freeplay, the amount of clutch lever movement from

the rest position to the point of cable resistance, should be

.020--.040 inch (.5-1.0 mm). Measure the gap between the clutch

lever and the lever housing.

3. Adjust clutch freeplay if necessary (see page 106).

NOTE: The starter interlock switch is dependent on the clutch lever

freeplay being set correctly to ensure activation of the clutch safety

switch.
