Incorrect operations are often mistaken for trouble and malfunctions. If you think that there is something wrong with this
component, check the points below. Sometimes the trouble may lie in another component. Investigate the other components
and electrical appliances being used. If the trouble cannot be rectified even after exercising the checks listed below, ask your
nearest TASCAM authorized service center or your dealer to carry out repair work.
Symptom

Power
The power does not turn on.
The power cord is not plugged in.
The component that the power cord is plugged
into (amplifier, audio timer, etc.) is not turned on.
Playback not possible
The counter display does not move.
Connection check.
No tape is loaded.
The deck is pause mode.
The level meter does not move.

An unrecorded tape is being played.
The heads are dirty. (See "Cleaning tape heads"
on page 7.)
Stereo amplifier operation
check.

The amplifier is not set for DAT (TAPE) playback.
The amplifier's volume control is turned all the
way down.
Check for a connection mistake, a loose or dis
connected cord, poor connection contacts, or a
broken wire.
Recording not possible
The recording (REC) indicator does not
light.

You are using an erase-protected tape.
General tapes -*■ Close the erase protection door.
Prerecorded music tapes -*■ Recording is not possible.
The level meter does not move.
The INPUT selector button is set incorrectly.
The recording level (INPUT level) control is turned
all the way down.
The amplifier is not outputting the recording
signal (from the tuner, CD, etc.)
Check for a connection mistake, a loose or dis
connected cord, poor connection contacts, or a
broken wire.
The deck enters stop mode when PAUSE is
released.
If "PROH" appears on the display, recording is not
possible. (See p.33)
OK
The counter does not move.
The deck is in pause mode.
The heads are dirty.
Clean the heads. (See “Cleaning tape heads" on
page 7.)
