Try these simple steps before contacting Apple for help.

If you experience problems with your iPod, try the troubleshooting

steps below. As a precaution, back up all content on the iPod, including

photos, videos, contacts, calendar, notes, and any other files on your

iPod before you perform these steps.
Verify that you have the latest iTunes.

You can download the latest iTunes. In the U.S., go to www.apple.

com/itunes/download/; in Canada go to www.apple.com/ca/itunes/

download/. You can also use the Check for Updates option. In iTunes for

Mac, the option is available under iTunes menu. In iTunes for Windows,

the option is available

under Help.
Verify that you have the latest iPod software.

Connect your iPod to your computer. In iTunes, select iPod in the source

list and click the Summary tab. The Version section tells you whether

your iPod is up to date or needs a newer version of the software. Click

Update to install the latest version. For more information about iPod

software, go to the Apple Support website at www.apple.com/support/
