General notes

Introduction

The equipment is used to satisfy two different analytical operations:

• Jar tests for the optimization of dosing coagulants and polyelectrolytes in

wastewaters treatment plants .

• Leaching tests using diluted acetic acid solutions or water saturated by carbon

dioxide for the evaluation of leacheability of heavy metals by solid wastes to

be sent to different kinds of dumps .

The stirring speed of the ET flocculators is reproducible meaning that standard test
conditioning can be used on a regular basis, a requirement for obtaining reproducible
results .
The examined samples can be lighted by a back fluorescent lamp controlled by a switch
located on front panel (1) .
The instruments have an ergonomic design, the control pannel is slightly inclined for easy
use and visibility .
The programmable speed of rotation from 10 to 300 r .p .m . (within 1 r .p .m .) is continuously
compared to the set value and shown by a display . The unit is equipped by an electronic
timer allowing to program the stirring time on two different scales (minutes or hours) or to
choose a continuous operation .

Instrument description

The flocculator is manufactured in a strong metallic frame with an epoxy painting
which has been studied to give a high degree of protection against chemical and
mechanical corrosion to the instrument .

The stainless steel stirring rods are adjustable in height by a self blocking chuck .
Rotation speed is controlled by a gear motor powered by direct current controlled
electronically by a microprocessor .

From the front panel it’s possible to select the same stirring speed from 10 to 300 rpm for
each position, the real speed is showed on the relative display .

The electronic timer allows the instrument to be set for one hour, a specific number or
minutes, or continuously .
