3) Troubleshooting

3.1 Reduced Flow
• Pump or plumbing may be clogged. It may be necessary to clean the filter ring and impeller.
3.2 Pump Hums and Doesn’t Push Water
• Make sure nothing is blocking or wrapped around the impeller.
• Make sure the pump is receiving the correct voltage.
3.3 Pump Not Working
• The breaker may be tripped.
• The pump is not receiving the correct voltage.

CAUTION

• Submersible pump.
• For outdoor and indoor use.
• Thermally protected.
• Enclosure type 3.
• This pump has been evaluated for use with water only.
• This pump is to be used in a circuit protected by a ground fault circuit interrupter.
• Do not run dry.

WArNING

• To reduce the risk of electric shock, connect only to a properly grounded, grounding

type receptacle.

• Risk of electric shock – This pump has not been investigated for use in swimming pool

or marine areas.

• To reduce the risk of electric shock, install only on a ground-fault

circuit-interrupter (GFCI).

2) Installation

2.1 Assembly of the Filter Ring
The filter ring is designed to attach to the pump when it is being mounted in the verti-

cal position. If not mounting the pump vertically, the filter ring can either be attached or

discarded. When attaching the filter ring to the pump, make sure the tabs on the filter ring

line up with the tabs on the outer filter. If the tabs are not lined up, the filter ring can block

the openings on the outer filter causing the pump to suck dry.
2.2 Basic Installation
• The AquaSurge

pump is designed to be placed inside a skimmer, snorkel, sump or

basin. Depending on the situation, the pump can be placed horizontally or vertically. If

being placed vertically, simply flip the filter ring around and snap the pump on the ring.

The ring snaps snugly in place for stability.

• The AquaSurge

pump comes with a threaded coupler and a 90° elbow. Depending on the

application, either one of these fittings will be used.

• Thread the plumbing assembly on the discharge of the pump.
• Connect pump to an outlet that is protected by a ground fault interrupter (GFCI).

Unnecessary overtightening will cause damage to both pipe and fittings. When threading

plastic to plastic or plastic to steel, precaution should be taken to prevent excessive

tightening, causing damage to the plastic pipe or fittings. The correct degree of tightness

may be determined by threading the connection hand tight, plus a quarter to half turn.
Once you have properly tightened the reducer bushing or coupler to the pump, care must be

taken to not over tighten these fittings during the installation of the elbow. Place a wrench

on the coupling and hold it secure, preventing it from over tightening during the tightening

of the elbow. Failure to do this may cause damage to the fittings and the pump housing.
