Thank you for purchasing a Philips Electronic Toaster. Please read this
instruction manual thoroughly and carefully before you start operating
the unit to ensure safe and reliable performance.

◗ Do not touch hot surfaces.Always use handles or knobs.
◗ To protect against electrical shock, do not immerse toaster, cord

or plug in water or other liquid.

◗ Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or

near children.

◗ Always use the appliance on a dry, level surface.
◗ To disconnect, turn toast colour control to 0 (OFF), then remove

plug from power outlet.Unplug from power outlet when not in use
and before cleaning.Always turn unit off before unplugging.Allow
tocool down before cleaning appliance.

◗ Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or

after appliance malfunctions, or has been damaged in any manner.

◗ Attempts to repair or modify this toaster by unauthorised persons

may render the appliance unsafe and will void any warranty.Always
return to an approved Philips Service Centre.This toaster model
HL5211 or HL5224 is covered by a full Philips 3-years replacement
warranty.

◗ The use of accessory attachments is not recommended by Philips

Electronics Ltd as this may cause hazards.

◗ Do not use the appliance outdoors.
◗ Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot

surfaces, including the stove.

◗ Bread may burn.Therefore, toasters must not be used near or

below curtains or other combustible material.

◗ Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a

heated oven.A fire may occur if the toaster is covered by or
touching flammable material, including curtains, draperies, or walls
when in operation. Do not store any item on top of the appliance.

◗ Before using this appliance, move it 5-10 cm. away from the wall or

any object on the countertop. Remove any objects from the top of
the appliance. Do not use on surfaces where heat may cause
damage.

◗ Do not insert fingers or metallic utensils into slots when toaster is

plugged in

◗ Do not insert foil covered or oversized food in toaster.
◗ Do not toast food that will drip coatings or fillings when heated.

Such accumulations inside the toaster create unsanitary conditions
and the possibility of fire or toaster malfunction.
