How many aquamats do you need?
Figuring out how many AquaMats ® you need is easy! Estimate how many gallons of water are in your pond,
using this equation: Width (feet) x Length (feet) x Depth (feet) x 7.5 = Number of gallons.
aquamats
® minis - Use 1 AquaMats ® Mini for every 50 gallons of pond water. For example, if your pond is 150
gallons, you would need 3 AquaMats ® Minis; 250 gallons would require 5, etc. AquaMats ® Minis may be joined
to one another to accommodate any size pond! AquaMats ® Minis are most effective in depths up to 24”. For
ponds in excess of 500 gallons or deeper than 24”, we recommend the use of the AquaMats ® Standard.
aquamats ® standards - Use 1 AquaMats ® Standard for every thousand (1,000) gallons of pond water. For
example, if your pond is 3,000 gallons, you would need 3 AquaMats ® Standards. AquaMats ® Standards are
most effective in depths of 24”. The height of the AquaMats ® can be trimmed with scissors if your pond is
shallower than 24”. For ponds with less than 500 gallons, we recommend the use of the AquaMats ® Mini.

materials that will stand up season after season,
submerged beneath the water. AquaMats ® come
with a 1-year warranty. We will replace any products
that fail mechanically within the 1- year warranty
time period.

use 1: Used individually or joined together, AquaMats ® can help supplement the filtration in the pond. For
ponds larger than 500 gallons we recommend using the longer and taller AquaMats ® Standard.
use 2: Used individually or joined together, AquaMats ® can be used to create specialized habitat
environments in larger ponds. Set the AquaMats ® in the desired locations. This will provide
protective cover, grazing area, and breeding grounds for pond fish.
use 3: AquaMats ® can be situated in open top biological filters, such as a BIOFALLS ® Filter. Beneficial
bacteria and other micro and macro organisms will colonize on the AquaMats ® , helping to cleanse
the water passing through the filter.
Instructions
AquaMats ® are very easy to handle and install.
They can be installed one at a time or joined together.
AquaMats ® Minis can be connected using the integrated
clipping system to create a reef-like design.
Just fold over the Mini in the center. Clip together ends
of the buckle. Place into pond in desired location. You can
add multiple minis in various locations throughout your
pond for additional bacterial colonization.

q - How do aquamats ® work with bacterial additions?
a - Fantastic! The engineered surfaces of AquaMats ®
are specifically designed to encourage the growth of
bacterial communities! The key to maximizing the
effectiveness of any bacterial treatment is to provide
it with just the right type and amount of surface area,
like the several types of surfaces found on and within
the AquaMats ® ! In summary, bacteria and AquaMats ®
comprise a great team that will help improve your water
quality and clarity!
q - can I use aquamats
® instead of a filter?
a - No, it is not recommended. AquaMats ® are
designed to be an ideal complement and sophisticated
tool that will enhance the performance of existing
biofiltration systems.
q - do aquamats
® have to be cleaned?
a - Ideally, AquaMats ® are bio-engineered to be
cleaned, or “grazed,” by pond fish like koi and goldfish.
However, if desired, AquaMats ® may be hand-cleaned
at pondside using non-chlorinated tap water or using a
bucket with water from the pond. Cleaning may be more
frequent if the AquaMats ® are situated in a biological
filter and are not able to be grazed on by the fish, creating
a build-up of excessive string algae on the AquaMats ® .

AquaMats ® Standards can be set next to one another.
The weighted ballast will keep them on the bottom of the
pond or in the filter. AquaMats ® can be situated to the
shape you desire (straight, S-curve, circular, etc.). You
can install multiple AquaMats ® Standards for additional
bacterial colonization.

Extreme Cold Water Liquid is
specially blended with very high
bacteria and enzyme counts that
are more effective and efficient
in cold water temperatures. Use EcoSystems ®

seeding the Aquamats ® or the biological filter in
early spring to help start the pond off right.
