This guide is intended to guide you through the basic

functions of AppRadio.

About AppRadio

AppRadio is an innovative car audio system with a 6.1

capacitive touch panel screen display that when used along

with Advanced App Mode, facilitates the use of iPhone

applications from Pioneer and other providers in the vehicle.
In addition to the basic functions such as radio and Bluetooth

hands-free phoning, when an iPhone is connected you’ll have

full access to your photos, calendar, music, and more.

For details of functions and operation of this product, refer

to AppRadio app Help. Please follow the steps below to see

AppRadio app Help.
1. Install AppRadio app on the iPhone.
2. Launch AppRadio app without connecting the iPhone to

this product.

3. Tap [

Settings]l[Manual].

Advanced App Mode

With Advanced App Mode, you can display the iPhone application

screen on the display of AppRadio. And you can operate

AppRadio compatible iPhone applications via the display.

Using Advanced App Mode

With your iPhone connected to the AppRadio, launch the

AppRadio app or other compatible iPhone applications from the

iPhone. You can now tap the App icon on the AppRadio display

to access Advanced App Mode.

Only iPhone applications compatible with Advanced App Mode

can be displayed on the screen of this product.

AppRadio app

AppRadio app is an iPhone application to switch this product

to Advanced App Mode.
In addition to allowing access to basic iPhone functions, the

AppRadio app also enables Advanced App Mode on the

AppRadio.

Map: Scroll, search, and view the displayed map data or

set a route to a destination via Google Maps™.

!

Calendar: View your scheduled events that you’ve saved to

your iPhone calendar.

!

Photos: Access and view all of your photos within your

iPhone’s camera roll and photo library as a slideshow.

!

Contacts: Make Bluetooth handsfree phone calls and even

route to contacts stored within your iPhone’s contact list.

!

Recommended Apps: Discover the latest available

Advanced App Mode compatible iPhone applications and

even download them to your iPhone directly from the

AppRadio display.

A launcher function to launch an iPhone application from this

product is usable.
The AppRadio app is available as a download from the

iTunes App Store.

Quick Start Mode

Your AppRadio features a Quick Start Mode that puts the

AppRadio into a reduced power mode for five minutes when the

vehicle ignition is switched to off (ACC OFF). While in Quick start

mode, if you turn the ignition switch on (ACC ON), AppRadio will

immediately start up.
If the unit is in Quick start mode and the ignition is not switched on

(ACC ON) within five minutes, AppRadio automatically turns off.

Home button

When you press the AppRadio Home button, the Home screen

is displayed on-screen. The AppRadio Home screen is the main

screen that allows access to your entertainment sources, Apps,

settings and more.

Audio source control

When you press the Home button twice, the audio source control

keys will be displayed on-screen. Using these keys, you can

operate the audio source currently playing in the background

without leaving the screen currently displayed.

Inputting text

When you tap a text input area of an AppRadio-compatible

iPhone application, a keyboard will be displayed on-screen.

You can input the desired text directly from the AppRadio.
When

is tapped, the AppRadio keyboard is hidden and

text can now be entered using the iPhone’s keyboard.
The AppRadio keyboard layout can be changed within the

Language Settings screen on the AppRadio.

Playing iPhone music

When you tap [

iPod] on the Home screen, the iPhone audio

source screen appears. You can play and operate the audio

source with the iPhone connected.
You can control playback by tapping the audio source con-

trol keys. When a list screen is displayed, scroll the list by

tapping or , and select the item by tapping [

OK].

Listening to the radio

When you tap [

Radio] on the Home screen, the radio source

screen appears and is audible.

When you tap a preset channel key, you can select a preset

channel.
To manually adjust the frequency, tap or . To

automatically search for receivable frequencies, touch and

hold or until search starts.
To switch bands, tap

.

If you use other optional functions, tap and open each

menu.

Hands-free phoning

Tap [

Phone] to display the Phone menu screen.

You can control Bluetooth connection of the iPhone, and

make a call with incoming/outgoing call histories, transferred

contacts, or dials.
Registering an iPhone

Search “App Radio”, the device name of this product, and

pair the iPhone and this product. (The default PIN code

used for registering the device is 0000). When registration is

successful, Bluetooth connection starts.
Disconnecting and re-connecting the iPhone

Tap on the Phone menu screen to open the optional

menu. And then, tap [

Bluetooth] to set the value to Off.

If you connect the iPhone and this product again, display the

Phone menu screen. And then, select the iPhone to connect

via Bluetooth, and tap

.

Transferring the phone book to this product

While the iPhone and this product is connected via Bluetooth,

tap to open the optional menu.

And then, tap [

Phone Book Sync]. The contact information

of the iPhone will be transferred to this product.

General settings

From the General settings screen the following settings can

be accessed: language display, keyboard layout, date-time,

subwoofer output.
If you tap on the Home screen and tap [

General], the

General settings screen is displayed.
Audio settings

From the Audio settings screen, audio settings including

sound quality adjustment and in-car sound field (fader/

balance) can be accessed.
If you tap on the Home screen and tap [

Audio Settings],

the Audio settings screen is displayed.
