Mounting
• Unique dual mounting system enables
the FL 300 to mount either to a wall or
ceiling under a building soffi t.
• Detection lens must have a clear,
unobstructed view of detection area.
Soffi t mounting
Placement guidelines
• Adjust crossbar to a horizontal
position and line up pre-drilled holes
in backplate. Tighten center screws on
crossbar to lock into position.
• Feed wires through center hole of the
backplate.
• Connect wires from sensor to
corresponding wires in junction box.
(See Wiring.)
• Fasten backplate to crossbar using two
washers and nuts and tighten to assure
backplate is fi rmly in place.
• Line up sensor over backplate and
mount the top lip of sensor to top lip of
backplate. Fasten sensor to backplate
using two Phillips screws (provided).
• If needed, apply weatherproof silicone
caulk around back edge of backplate
to assure watertight fi t to junction box.
• Remove sensor’s backplate.
• Confi rm that plug on top of unit is
snapped into place.
• Line up backplate and gasket over
double-gang waterproof box.
• Feed wires through center hole of
backplate. Verify that holes in the lower
left and upper right hand corners of
backplate line up with holes in junction
box.
• Connect wires from sensor to
corresponding wires in junction box.
(See Wiring.)
• Fasten backplate and gasket to
junction box with mounting screws.
• Line up sensor over backplate and
mount on top lip of backplate. Fasten
unit to backplate using two Phillips
screws.

• Remove sensor’s backplate and
remove plug on top of the unit by
pushing up on plug from inside of unit.
• Run connection wires from sensor
through threaded 3” chase nipple,
cover and gasket. Make sure wires
extend through junction box cover and
gasket (see illustration).
• Fasten the solid backplate to sensor
using two Phillips screws.
• Connect wires from sensor to
corresponding wires in junction box
(see Wiring).
• Align gasket and coverplate with
junction box and secure with
coverplate screws.
• Connect threaded 3” chase nipple to
coverplate by threading it into the 1/2”
knockout.
• Press sensor housing into the threaded
3” chase nipple making sure the
sensor lens is facing the coverage area
and its fi eld of view is not obstructed.
You have a fi rm connection when it
snaps into place.
• Ideal mounting height is 8-12 feet.
• If needed, apply silicone sealant
around the junction box to ensure
weathertight installation.
Wall mounting - double-gang
weatherproof box
Wall mounting - weatherproof
box (other than double-gang)
A double-gang weatherproof box is
recommended for exterior wall mount
applications. The crossbar is typically not
used and the backplate mounts directly to
a gasket and weatherproof junction box.
If mounting to an existing box other than
a double-gang weatherproof box, the
provided crossbar may be needed.
• Remove housing backplate.
• Confi rm that plug on top of unit is
snapped into place.
• Align slots of crossbar with screw holes
of existing box and secure with screws.
(Note: crossbar may not be required for
certain applications.)
