Display window
1 Disc indicator
Indicates the type of the disc set in the selected tray.
When setting a DVD VIDEO, Video CD or Audio CD disc is
set, “DVD”, “VCD” or “CD” illuminates, respectively.
2 Title/chapter/track indicators
Displays title/chapter, or track number.
3 Repeat mode indicators
The appropriate indicator illuminates according to the
current repeat mode.
4 PROGRAM/RANDOM indicators
The appropriate indicator illuminates while the unit is in
the Program or Random playback mode.
5 Multi-information window
Displays the current title/track/chapter number(s), time
and status information.
Rear panel
1 DIGITAL OUT jack(s) (OPTICAL/COAXIAL) (15)
Outputs digital audio signals. You must select the signal
type correctly according to the external device connected
to via the Preference display. The XV-S40BK/XV-S45GD
provides both the OPTICAL and COAXIAL connectors,
while XV-S30BK provides only the COAXIAL connector.

Output component video signals.
These jacks are not active in the initial (factory preset)
condition. See page 14 for details about how to make
them active.
3 S-VIDEO OUT jack (13)
Outputs an S-video signal.
Note that this jack is not active when you make the
COMPONENT VIDEO OUT jacks active. See pages 13 and
14 for details about how to make them active.
4 VIDEO OUT jack (13)
Outputs a composite video signal.
5 AUDIO OUT jacks (LEFT/RIGHT) (13,14)
Outputs stereo analog audio signals.
6 AV COMPU LINK jacks (42) (except XV-S30BK)
Connects with other JVC equipment supporting the AV
Compulink function to facilitate integrated operations.
7 AC IN connector (16)
Connects to the wall outlet using the suppplied AC power
cord.
