Installation Installation
Before installation
• Choose the mounting location carefully so that the
unit will not interfere with the normal driving
functions of the driver.
• Mount the unit either under a seat or inside the
trunk space.
• For models which have a sound input/output
switch on the master unit, be sure to put the switch
in the 2 position (sound input position).
• You can register up to 10 presettings on the
XDP-4000X of the cross-over network and
parametric equalizer for the best sound results
suitable to your car interior. In this case, if you
connect the XDP-4000X to a master unit, the Bass/
Treble and Balance/Fader functions on the master
unit are disabled so that these presettings will not
be disturbed. (Consult your nearest Sony dealer for
further information about each presetting.)
• Connect the power cord of the XDP-4000X
directly from the battery to the amplifier. Make
sure to insert a 5A fuse as close as possible to
the battery.
If you make a connection without
using a fuse, or otherwise make some
mistake in the wiring, the cable could burn
through.
Avant l’installation
• Choisissez soigneusement l’endroit de montage de
façon à ce que l’appareil n’interfère pas avec les

• Installez l’appareil sous un siège ou dans la malle
arrière.
• Dans le cas des modèles équipés d’un commutateur
d’entrée/sortie audio sur l’appareil principal,
veillez à régler le commutateur sur la position 2
(position d’entrée audio).
• Vous pouvez enregistrer jusqu’à 10 présélections
sur le XDP-4000X du circuit de recoupement et
l’égaliseur paramétrique pour obtenir les meilleurs
résultats acoustiques en fonction de l’habitacle de
votre voiture. Dans ce cas, si vous raccordez le
XDP-4000X à un appareil principal, les fonctions
Bass/Treble et Balance/Fader de l’appareil
principal sont désactivées de façon à ce que ces
présélections ne soient pas perturbées. (Consultez
votre revendeur Sony pour des informations plus
détaillées sur chacune de ces présélections.)
• Branchez directement le cordon
d’alimentation du XDP-4000X de la batterie à
l’amplificateur. Installez un fusible de 5A le
plus près possible de la batterie. Si vous
établissez une connexion sans fusible, ou si
vous commettez une erreur de câblage, le
câble risque de brûler.

(3 mm (1/8 in.) dia.).

Make sure that the POWER indicator of the unit
lights up when you turn on the master unit.

Prepare a sound mounting board with enough
thickness (more than 14 mm (9/16 in.)) to install the
unit securely.

Warning
Precaution
• This unit is designed for negative ground 12 V DC
operation only.
• Avoid installing the unit where:
— it would be subject to high temperatures such as
from direct sunlight or hot air from the heater.
— it would be exposed to rain or moisture.
— it would be subject to dust or dirt.
• If the unit is placed too close to the car radio, the TV
tuner or the antenna interference may occur. In this
case, separate the unit from the car radio, TV tuner
or the antenna.
• For safety reasons, keep your car audio volume
moderate so that you can still hear sounds outside
your car.
• A special setting tool is required to set the cross-
over network and parametric equalizer of the XDP-
4000X. Consult your nearest Sony dealer for further
information about the installation, connections, and
settings.
• To use the XDP-4000X, you will need a Sony master
unit with the DSP control function.
• If you connect a master unit with voice guide to this
unit, the voice guide function will not work.
If you have any questions or problems concerning
your unit that are not covered in this manual, please
consult your nearest Sony dealer.
Notes in operation
• Operating the MUTE (ATT) function on the unit is
different from operating the function on the master
unit. On this unit, when MUTE (ATT) is ON, the
volume setting function cannot be operated; this is
not a malfunction. The MUTE (ATT) function is not
overridden by the volume function.
• Two units can not be used at same time.

serait soumis à :

syntoniseur TV ou de l’antenne, des interférences

l’antenne.
• Pour des raisons de sécurité, gardez le volume de
votre installation audio de voiture à un niveau
modéré de façon à ce que vous puissiez entendre
les bruits de la circulation.
• Un outil de réglage spécial est indispensable pour
régler le circuit de recoupement et l’égaliseur
paramétrique du XDP-4000X. Consultez votre
revendeur Sony pour des informations plus détaillées
sur l’installation, le raccordement et les réglages.
• Pour utiliser le XDP-4000X, vous avez besoin d’un
appareil principal Sony doté de la fonction de
commande DSP.
• Si vous raccordez à cette unité un appareil principal
doté de la fonction de guide vocal, la fonction de
guide vocal sera inopérante.

Remarques sur le fonctionnement
• Le fonctionnement de la fonction MUTE (ATT) est
différent sur l’unité et sur l’appareil principal. Sur
cette unité, lorsque MUTE (ATT) est réglé sur ON, la
fonction de réglage du volume ne peut être actionnée;
il ne s’agit pas d’un dysfonctionnement. La fonction
MUTE (ATT) n’est pas supplantée par la fonction de
volume.
• Il n’est pas possible d’utiliser deux appareils en même
temps.
