SPEAKER PLACEMENT

Below are placement guidelines to help you achieve the best performance from your new speakers.

FRONTS (Left/Right)
Accurate Timbre (Fig. 2)

For the most accurate and natural timbral balance, place front speakers so that their high-frequency drivers
are approximately ear level.

As mentioned earlier, compact models can be mounted on optional PARADIGM

®

speaker stands

(see your

Dealer) or placed on a bookshelf or desk. Placing speakers on PARADIGM

®

stands or bookshelves raises their

high-frequency drivers to approximately ear level, ensuring the best performance possible.

Balanced Bass Performance (Figs. 3a, 3b)

Placing front speakers in corners will over-emphasize bass and reduce overall clarity. Avoid corner placement
(Fig. 3a). Position front speakers 8 in (20 cm) or more from the wall behind the speaker and as much as possible
from either side wall, as shown in Fig. 3b. This will ensure better bass performance and optimal midrange clarity.

Optimal Imaging (Fig. 4)

Measure the distance from your main listening area to the front speakers (“X”). For best imaging, place
speakers from three-quarters of that distance up to that same distance from each other (3/4 of “X” to “X”)
(see Fig. 4). To further optimize imaging, when possible, turn speakers slightly inward so they point toward
the listening position with their axes crossing just behind it (Fig. 4).

On-Wall Mounting (Fig. 5)

Follow the directions for placement given under “Optimal Imaging”

(above) together with the mounting

instructions provided later in this manual. When using PARADIGM

®

brackets sold separately, follow the guide-

lines for placement included with those brackets to safely and securely mount your speakers on the wall.

CENTER SPEAKER (Figs. 5, 6, 7 and 8)

Place the center speaker above or below your TV, whichever position is closer to ear level. Position it flush
with the front of the TV to minimize unwanted sound reflections. It should be about the same distance away from
the primary listening area as the front speakers.

(Some A/V receivers and processors can electronically adjust

for differences in distance.) Your center speaker can be placed on top of a TV, on a shelf, or wall mounted
(refer to the section on Wall Mounting later in this manual).

If you are placing a Cinema

C or LCR (horizontal configuration) speaker on top of a TV or shelf, you must use

the Adjustable TV-Top/Shelf Support included (see Fig. 8). Installation is as follows:

1. Feed speaker cable through opening in the bottom of the support, then connect as outlined in “Speaker

Connection” later in this manual.

2. Align screws with horizontal markings on support; insert screws into 60-mm holes and tighten.

3. Apply self-adhesive rubber pads

(included) as shown in Fig. 8.

4. To adjust tilt angle of speaker

(if desired), loosen screws and slide bracket up or down until desired angle is

attained. Retighten screws.
