• The pump flow rate is below what is recommended to ensure proper circulation in the
pond. The total pond volume should pass through the filter at least once every two hours.
• The UltraKlear™ UV may be incorrectly sized to your pond’s conditions. See Table 1 for cor-
rect specifications.
• Excessively high fish loads can hinder the performance of the UV Unit. It is recommended
to keep the fish load to approximately 1 inch of fish per 10 Gallons of pond water.
• Review the installation instructions to ensure that the pump and filter return are in the
proper position.
• The UV Bulb may need replacing. It is recommended to replace the bulb annually, even if it
appears to be working correctly. UV output degrades over time.
• The UV Quartz Tube may become covered with a mineral scale from your pond water. A
vinegar solution will help remove this mineral scale. Buildup on the Quartz Tube will not
allow the UV light to penetrate the water, and thus remove green water from your pond.
• For proper pond treatment, the pump and UV Unit should operate 24 hours a day. Continu-
ous filtration of the water is required to maintain clear water.
• If UV Bulb does not appear to be on, it may need to be replaced.
• If the bulb has been replaced and UV Bulb does not appear to be on, the fuse on the
circuit board may be checked and replaced if necessary.
6.3 cloudy, Brown Water
• The UltraKlear™ UV is not designed to clear sediment that results in cloudy, brown
water. A pressure filter such as the Aquascape™ UltraKlean™ Filter will assist with this
problem.
