Cleaning the
condenser

There is no need for routine condenser
cleanings in normal home operating
environments. However, in environments
that may be particularly dusty or greasy,
the condenser should be cleaned (at least
annually) for efficient refrigerator operation.

To clean the condenser:

w WARNING:

The condenser fins have sharp edges. Wear
a long-sleeved shirt and gloves to safely clean
the condenser.

Turn off the power at the circuit breaker
or fuse box. Wait about 30 minutes for
the condenser area to cool.

2.

Raise the grille panel at the top of the
refrigerator to reach the condenser.
The condenser fins have sharp edges.
Wear a long-sleeved shirt and gloves
to safely clean the condenser.
The condenser is located at the very back
of the machine compartment on the right
behind the compressor. The condenser
fins are not visible from the front.

3.

To clean the condenser, reach back
through the middle section of the machine
compartment to the right with a soft bristle
brush and loosen dust and lint on the
condenser fins.

4.

Use a vacuum hose to remove soil.

5.

Reconnect power at the fuse box or circuit
breaker.

Care and Cleaning

Built-In Refrigerators

Preparing
for vacation

For long vacations or absences,

remove food

and shut off power to the refrigerator at the
fuse box or circuit breaker. Clean the interior
(see Cleaning Inside). Leave doors open.

For shorter vacations,

remove perishable foods

and leave controls at regular settings. However,
if the room temperature is expected to drop
below 60°F (16°C), follow the same instructions
as for long vacations.

Set the icemaker power switch to the O (off)
position and be sure to shut off the water
supply to the refrigerator.
