I cannot play a CD-ROM

Make sure the label of the CD-ROM is facing up.

If the CD-ROM requires software, make sure the software is installed
according to the program’s instructions.

Moisture condensation may have occurred. Disconnect the CD-ROM
drive and disconnect the power to the drive for at least one hour.

Make sure the CD-ROM drive is properly connected. See “To connect
a CD-ROM drive” on page 56.

Clean the CD-ROM.

Check the speaker volume.

When I press Fn+F3, nothing happens

Use the following procedure to enable sound:

1

Click Start, select Settings, and click Control Panel.

2

Click the System icon.

3

Click the Device Manager tab.

4

Click Sound, video and game controllers.

5

Double-click Yamaha DS-XG PCI Audio CODEC (WDM).

6

Uncheck the “Disable in this hardware profile” box.

7

Click OK. The sound is now enabled.

My microphone doesn’t work

If you are using an external microphone, check that the microphone is
plugged into the Microphone connector. For details, see “Connecting an
External Microphone” on page 61.

When I click an application icon a message appears, such as “You must insert

the application CD into your CD-ROM drive,” and the software does not start

Some titles require specific files that are located on the application’s
CD-ROM. Insert the disc and try starting the program again.

Make sure you place the disc in the tray with the label side facing up.

My floppy disk drive cannot write to a diskette

The diskette is write-protected. Disable the write-protect feature or
use a diskette that is not write-protected.

Check that the diskette is properly inserted into the floppy disk drive.
