Press OPEN/CLOSE again to close the

loading drawer.

After closing the loading drawer, the DISC 1-5 indicators
may light up even if there is no disc in the disc tray. This
will depend on the disc tray position. The indicator will go
out when an empty tray comes to the play position.

Note:

• Do not close the loading drawer by hand.

To start playback from the disc in the piay position,

Press PLAY.

or

To start playback from a specific disc,

Press DISC 1-5 to select

the disc number.

Example:

•To select disc 1, press DISC 1.

To start playback from a specific title/chapter/
track

Press the numeric buttons.

Example:

•To select track 23

Press “^10”, “2” and then “3”.

Playback begins.

Regarding the sequential modes (1 or 2)

All the discs loaded in the disc trays will be played according to
the sequential mode (1 or 2) currently selected.

For details of the sequential modes, see page 21.

Note:

•Pressing DISC SKIP is necessary to proceed to the next disc

after playback of DVDs.

Regarding the illumination of the DISC 1-5 indi­

cators

When the loading drawer is closed, the DISC 1-5 indicators
will light green. Then, the illumination will change as follows:

•When the player detects DVD

The color changes to orange.

•When the player detects Video CD or CD

The color remains green.

•When the player detects no disc

The illumination goes out.

While watching the movie program

• Raising the volume but only for the dialogue

The volume for the dialogue only can be raised by displaying
the On-Screen Menu Icons {for player information) and set­
ting “Dialogue Enhancer” to “ON". (See page 27.)

[This setting takes effect only for discs which are recorded

with Dolby Digital (AC-3) 5.1ch and with the dialogue con­
tained in the center channel.]

After operation

When the player is not in use, remove the disc and press

POWER to set the player to the standby mode.

The player is automatically set to the standby mode after
30 minutes or so have elapsed in the stop mode.

(Auto power-off function)

Note:

•If the disc is placed in upside down (and it is a single sided

disc), the FL display will indicate “NO PLAY".

For your reference:

•When 0 appears on the TV monitor while a button is being

operated, it means that the corresponding operation is pro­

hibited by the player or the disc.

In the case of many movie DVDs, an

interactive DVD or a Video CD with
playback control, a menu screen ap­
pears on the TV monitor. Perform
step 6 to start play.

When the menu continues onto another screen

After step 5, press SKIP (►►!).

•To return to the previous menu screen

Press SKIP (!◄◄).

•Due to the design of some software titles, SKIP (\«,

may not always work. For operation, refer also to the jacket

of the disc concerned.

Stopping play and returning to the menu
screen

Press TITLE, MENU or RETURN (for DVD), or RETURN (for

Video CD).

Play is suspended, and the menu screen is displayed.
•The buttons may not work depending on the disc used.

Play of the selected item now begins.

(Example)

►The disc continues to rotate while the menu is displayed

even after the player has finished playing a particular item.
When no further selections are to be played, be sure to press
STOP to clear the menu display.
