Using On-Screen Menu Icons

On-Screen Menu Icons are long thin menus that contain information about the disc or unit.
These menus allow you to perform operations by changing this information.
■ Operations available only with On-Screen Menu Icons
Elapsed play time, Time display mode, Still picture page number, A-B repeat play, Repeat
play. Dialogue Enhancer, Marker, V.S.S. mode (For details, ^ pages 20 and 21)
Basic operation

While stopped or playing
Press [DISPLAY] to select the
On-Screen Menu Icons.
The screen changes each time you
press the button.
Example: DVD-Video
Icons for disc information:

You can change groups, chapters, titles
and tracks, or select different angles or
soundtrack and subtitle languages.

You can start repeat play or mark parts
you want to play again.

You can fast forward, rewind, or start
slow motion play.

Use the cursor jockey [ A, ▼,
to select the item.
The item is highlighted in yellow.
Use the cursor jockey [ A , T ] to
change the setting.
•Step 3 is not necessary when using
the shuttle screen.
•You can change some items with the
remote control's numeric buttons.
• If the change doesn’t take effect,
press [ENTER] orf^j.
■ To clear the on-screen display
Press [RETURN] or [CANCEL] on the re­
mote control.
• If part of the On-Screen Menu Icons is cut
off or fails to appear, go to the initial set­
tings menu to change the position of On-
Screen Messages. The color of the
On-Screen Menu Icons can also be
changed {■> page 28, “4 On-Screen
Messages").
• Items displayed depend on how the disc
is being played and the type of disc.
• Functions that can be operated depend
on how the disc is being played and the
type of disc.
•“A, V” around the on-screen icon means
that the item can be changed using the
cursor jockey [ A, ▼].
