For users of front high speakers

When you use the auto calibration function of the receiver with a front high speakers connection, make sure to select the speaker pattern that

has front high speakers (5/. or 4/.), then perform auto calibration.
If you select the speaker pattern that has both front high speakers and surround back speakers (5/4. or 4/4.), sound is output from either

the front high speakers or the surround back speakers, depending on the input signals or the sound field you select.
If you want sound always output from the front high speakers, set the speaker pattern so that there are no surround back speakers (5/2. or

4/2.).
For example, when you select the “HD-D.C.S.” sound field, sound is output from the surround back speakers if 5/4. is set (HD-D.C.S.

(STANDARD)), and sound is output from the front high speakers if 5/2. is set (HD-D.C.S. (FH)).
However, even if you perform auto calibration with a speaker pattern such as 5/2. or 4/2., when surround back speakers or a subwoofer

are (is) connected to the receiver, the speaker pattern is set automatically so that all the detected speakers are utilized (e.g., 5/4.1, etc.). If you

change the number of speakers you want to use, reselect the desired speaker pattern manually after auto calibration.
Then, you can restore the speaker pattern that has surround back speakers or a subwoofer such as 5/4., as the measurement value for those

speakers is stored in the receiver.
For details on the auto calibration function, see “10: Calibrating the appropriate speaker settings automatically (Auto Calibration).”
For details on the speaker pattern, see “9: Setting the speakers.”
